37 - Wittgenstein Briquet

Today's new puzz.link genre is Wittgenstein Briquet. This genre first appeared in the 2007 JPC under the name "Desk Place" (デスクプレース), but was subsequently renamed and popularized by Serkan Yürekli, who set some for the OAPC 1 in 2009. The new name pays homage to philosopher and mathematician Ludwig Wittgenstein. Whether you think of them as desks or bricks, it's a genre about placing 1x3 shapes into a grid. This is neat genre and has remained a memorable one to me despite its simple ruleset. Perhaps due it's because of its striking name?

Here's the rules and example from the rules page:

Place several rectangles of size 1x3 into the grid. A number indicates the amount of rectangles in the 4 orthogonally adjacent cells. Rectangles cannot overlap numbers. All cells not used by rectangles form an orthogonally contiguous area.

When I set these puzzles, I wasn't entirely happy with how a couple of them came out, since I had to cut a couple of fun deductions to make them unique. But in hindsight, I think they've grown on me. I'm pretty satisfied with this set now.

Particularly for the 2nd and 3rd puzzles, I would recommend using the circle aux marks to indicate places you know desks must go, even if you don't know the desk's orientation yet. It can be helpful for spotting certain kinds of deductions.

Without further ado, here's the puzzles:
